How Do You Prepare For The Right Job?

How Do You Prepare For The Right Job?

Let’s start by understanding the fundamental structure of the job market. There are several sectors which are umbrellas under which industries fall. Each industry demands several job roles and specialized professionals to fulfill those roles. For example, the Defence sector encompasses the Aviation and Aerospace, Defence and Space and, the Military industry. These different sectors require individuals with varied specializations like aerospace engineers, combat officers, space scientists, and many more. So, while figuring out your career path you can essentially find specific job roles that you want to pursue or identify broader industries. Both approaches are useful but one might have more perks in comparison to the other.

How do you plan and prepare for the right job?

Here are some tips-

Step 1: Decide what work you want to do based on your education, experience, skills, or achievement.

Step 2: Do your research on the industry initially before entering. You can browse through SahiCareer; they have an immense amount of information about all industries. However, I suggest being more focused on the job than the industry. If your job responsibility is unique and your skills are strong then working in various industries will be a big plus point for you.

Step 3: Gather some relevant job roles and responsibilities that you are targeting (follow Naukri, Monster, Indeed, LinkedIn). Analyze each job responsibility and pick those important skills that are highlighted there, or the recruiter is looking for. Try to learn about those skills. For example, Firewalls, Juniper SRX, Linux network management, L2/L3 network, and VPN.

Step 4: You can polish your skillset through online courses before adding to your profile, follow – NPTEL, Khan Academy, Coursera, Udemy. Before enrolling any course check their course module. Few of them are free, but certification needs some small amount of payment.

Step 5: Connect with some influential people and working professionals in your industry, via LinkedIn and follow them continuously. This process will give you an idea of their career path, their responsibility, and what their vision and ideology entail. Besides that, growing your network on LinkedIn will help you in getting a future recommendation for jobs and professionals with similar work experience.

Step 6: Do not make a decision only based on the salary being offered to you. Every job is unique and has its value hence, the pay also differs. Focus on your interests and abilities to bring more quality in your work, then you can see the value of your role automatically increasing.

It is best to focus on your job profile and the roles and responsibilities that you are supposed to fulfill rather than laying all the emphasis on which industry you should enter. Most jobs will give you a vast array of experience and skills that you will be able to utilize in multiple industries.
